Prompt: Choose an inanimate object (chair, cupcake, telephone, etc.) and illustrate it. Make three copies of that object and color each a different way so that each panel represents a different emotion (happiness, anger, confusion, etc.). Do not edit the paths or add additional shapes. Do not put the emotion explicitly within the image because we’ll try to guess each emotion during critique next week. Write a brief description of why and how you chose each color scheme.
The image that I chose is a helium balloon because it represents freedom. Freedom can bring up different emotions in people depending on the circumstances.
Sometimes freedom can mean excitement. For instance, a freshmen leaving home for the first time to pursue his/her tertiary education away from home is exciting because the freedom is liberating as adventures lie ahead!
Sometimes it can be freedom from your old life to a life filled with love. Sometimes people associate falling in love as a binding action. However, falling in love can be an adventure with someone new that will unleash you from your previous mundane lifestyle.
Unfortunately, freedom isn't always a joyous occasion. Sometimes, it is a sad one as you need to learn how to let go of something or someone that once means a lot to you. For example, one may need to let go of his or her dreams because he or she does not have the means or resources necessary to reach it. Besides that, it could also symbolize death - letting go of someone you love.
