THE ROOT CHILDREN
This project was made during my ''Advanced Level'' year at the Ars in Fabula illustration school in Macerata. Our task was to identify a text and illustrate it to create an illustrated book.
I chose ''The root children'' by Sybille von Olfers.
The text tells of little root children who live in harmony with nature and its creatures following the rhythm of the seasons.
Illustration 1 (digital illustration technique): the little root children sleep peacefully underground in their dens while outside the snow covers everything.
Illustration 2 (digital illustration): Mother Nature goes underground to wake up the root children because spring has arrived.
In her basket she carries many colored fabrics and ribbons.

Illustration 4 (digital illustration): even the bugs that have been sleeping all winter need a good bath to get out into the woods.

during the summer the root children love to relax in the stream on water lilies while the cockroaches are not too happy because there is too much noise.
