Inspired by local myths and tales of the region of Vourvourou (Sithonia) at Chalkidiki, where Ekies All Senses Resort is based, we designed a series of illustrations that would be painted on the room walls and would stand as the centerpiece of the rooms’ decoration. After research it became evident that most of the local stories were either composed in an obsolete writing manner or not written at all. Consequently, the acclaimed writer Anastasia Tentokali (The misunderstood monsters of the Greek mythology) rewrote the stories and gave us fantastic material to work on.
The whole team travelled to Ekies to paint almost 20 illustrations for 16 rooms trying to create an exciting visual outcome that would match perfectly with the interior design of the rooms. For the small details we collaborated with Tind Silkscreen, an expert in silkscreen printing who managed to print the little details on the walls with absolute mastery. It seemed a good idea to turn the stories and illustrations into a book that would be called “Lobster in Love” and can be found in the resorts’ reception or in https://mangel-wurzel.com/.
