ABOUT:
Let’s face it, one of the most important things to people are the cities they call home. That’s why it’s necessary to make cities as smart and efficient as possible in order to make life in those cities as good as it can be. To do that, IBM has created a place to bring together citizens, city leaders and smart ideas—to spark positive change in cities all around the world. Because IBM knows a smart idea in one city can make any city smarter, they created a place to share those ideas and connect the leaders and forward thinkers who will put them to work. At people4smartercities.com, leaders can become inspired and citizens can get insights and share knowledge within the community.

IBM reached out to citizens—thinkers, problem solvers, and creators—and invited them to join the mission to help make their city smarter and bring their ideas to life. A smart idea is one that drives positive change and because there are so many ways to make a city smarter, they wanted ideas related to any one of 8 Smarter City topics: education, healthcare, environmental, energy & water, public safety, government, buildings and transportation.
MISSION:
Participants could post ideas in the form of videos (2 min maximum) —sharing stories of success and progress, and guiding others towards it. We could bring our own inspiration to life, or team up with an inventor and help them showcase an inspiring idea.
MY IDEA FOR A SMARTER LISBON, MY HOMETOWN:
I was in London on vacation when I heard about this briefing and contest. When I arrived to Lisbon, I only had 2 days until the deadline so I had to expose my ideia with de filming material that I had at home. It was a hard challenge for me to solve a briefing, write the text, film and edit a video in a little more than 24 hours!
But the idea is very nice and I would love to see it implemented in Lisbon and other cities around the world :)

Althouth I made this video in a little over 24 hours (due to the deadline) I was surprise to see that my work is one of the most voted.
