RE-THINKING PROJECT: MARIKINA RIVERBANKS AMPITHEATER

RE-THINKING THE MARIKINA RIVER AMPITHEATER
Re-designing a public space with accordance to the urban design principle of place making through improving the physical qualities of the existing environment, incorporating the culture of the people in the design while increasing the economic value and opportunities for the community for a sustainable communal-public space, and to combat urban deterioration.
SITE ANALYSIS: AN OVERVIEW
Existing photos of the site and its 30 year transformation. In the critical analysis of the place, it was found that, the river edge has an uneven and has deteriorated platform brought about by flooding. The space is also inaccessible to the public, having no PWD ramps available on site. Lastly, the economic value of the place has been depreciating brought by the urban deterioration of the space and lack of community participation.
The place making framework and design approach with the given analysis of the site and its people, culture, and history.
