    This project was a self directed exploration of both aesthetics and controversial American history. The exploration began with research of my own Japanese heritage in light of my grandparents' internment by the US Government during WW2. This search lead me to a poster which I found to be representative of the beginning of the Japanese American Internment as well as exemplary of a history of racially motivated governmental policy. This project was a self directed exploration of both aesthetics and controversial American history. The exploration began with research of my own Japanese heritage in light of my grandparents' internment by the US Government during WW2. This search lead me to a poster which I found to be representative of the beginning of the Japanese American Internment as well as exemplary of a history of racially motivated governmental policy.

I then took this original poster, recreated it, and altered it, not  to condemn or condone history, but merely to question what has happened and how such things can inform how we move forward.
