be/hold Arts Festival 2022 Identity

be/hold Arts Festival 2022
be/hold is an arts festival where a group of Christian artists presents their individual responses to the theme "beauty in brokenness". These responses include exhibited artworks, workshops, performances, amongst other forms of creative expression.

To behold something is to see it for what it is, to gaze in awe at what it reveals. Within “behold” there are also the verbs “be” and “hold”. To be is to rest in who you are, rather than striving, producing, proving; "being" rests in the moment and focuses on the process of becoming rather than the end result. To hold is to grasp something securely, to keep a firm grip on something which is important and loved, as when we hold someone’s hand.

Key graphic based on the main logo
Capturing the festival's theme on "beauty in brokenness", the logo's distinctive graphical elements is the broken jar and the hands in a firm grasp. It is symbolic—showing how the broken and imperfect self is mended by love (expressed by the idea of being held). A sacrificial, pure and divine love from the Creator and Lord of the universe.
