New and Old
Architectural contrasts around East Europe
This is a photographic project with the purpose to highlight the architectural contrasts in three cities of east Europe: Prague, Warsaw, Bucarest. First photo is emblematic: “The new is coming soon!” stands for new architectural tendencies which grow up near old buildings, causing, in my opinion, a very interesting and attractive contrast which is representative of the evolution of architectural trends throughout history. In these three cities architectural contrasts are extraordinarily clear and they seems to create an hidden balance between so different styles: in Prague it’s incredible to find such a rich combination of architectonic styles, with neo-renaissance buildings reflected on excellent examples of contemporary architectures; in Warsaw sudden skyscrapers dominate historical monuments and churches, displaying a richness of colours and architectural details; in Bucarest magnificent neoclassic buildings blend naturally in modern windows of skyscrapers.
