Microstabiles, small sculpture for tactile satisfaction

The human face and body are often subjects portrayed abstractly orrecognizable dependent upon the shapes suggested by the natural form. The sheen and color of the finished stone contrasts with the raw, broken, and weathered surface of the material. Stone invites humantouch, enhanced by providing oils lending to the unique expression inthe stone. Touch is one of the human senses rarely enjoyed in theart experience but welcomed by this artist. He has recently taken towhat he refers to as microstabiles. These are stone and wood piecesless than a few inches in size in a freeform style suitable formounting as jewelry or as stand alone conversation pieces.
