Cina Catteau's profile

Ball Sellers House

The client for this project was the Ball-Sellers House, a historical house in Arlington, Virginia. They commissioned a brochure to be distributed to schools and other locations to provide publicity for the house, as well as a t-shirt, which would be for sale at the house’s gift shop.

Because it would be distributed in schools, the target audience is fairly young, and yet the style of the brochure and the t-shirt also reflect the historical nature of the house itself.

The style of my illustration was inspired by 18th century etchings, so that the character of the illustration matches the character of the house.

The format of the brochure is composed so that as the viewer unfolds it, they see more of the house, and it transforms from an 18th century illustration to a photograph of how the house looks today, drawing the reader into the house’s rich history.
