The Gospel of Matthew

Designer: Marcus Williamson
Art Director: Kent Bateman
Photographer: Sara Freemon

We had a ton of fun with the branding of this sermon series. We were trying to go about it in a consistently pleasant way. And I really wanted something that would connect each design since this was going to be a series within a series. So we did a through line that makes it feel like a design within a design. It also signifies the one big story of the gospel of Matthew.
I really love how Bridgetown Church does their design and I was heavily inspired by their simplicity.  I was also inspired by this color palette I found.
We wanted a really fun typeface for the title treatment of Matthew so we went with Kinder.
I would be remiss if I didn't put a link for listening to the series so please do check it out sometime when you get a chance: Website | Spotify

Here's a synopsis if that helps as well:

The gospel of Matthew is a winding journey that takes us on a trek from Jesus’ humble birth, all the way to his victorious return from the grave. In between, there are countless stories, teachings, and interactions that fill in so much of who this Jesus is and what kind of kingdom he came to create.

Matthew’s purpose in writing is that through it all, people would be drawn to, captivated by, and transformed through the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.
This series will take several years in total to walk, in installments, passage-by-passage through the gospel according to Matthew.
