This single-family home between party walls is located in the city of Madrid, belonging to the Fuencarral district, a neighborhood located north of the capital and very close to the center. The house is distributed on three levels to serve the program given the limited conditions of the plot.Its owner, a young woman, wanted a house in Fuencarral that would be comfortable in her daily use and would allow her to have flexible spaces depending on her needs, thus being able to reconfigure the rooms, expanding the number of rooms either for guests or because in the future wants to start a family.

Esta vivienda unifamiliar entre medianeras, está ubicada en la ciudad de Madrid, perteneciente al distrito de Fuencarral, un barrio situado al norte de la capital y muy próximo al centro. La casa se distribuye en tres niveles para dar servicio al programa dadas las limitadas condiciones de la parcela. Su propietaria, una mujer joven, quería una casa en Fuencarral que fuese cómoda en su uso diario y le posibilitase disponer de espacios flexibles en función de sus necesidades, pudiendo así reconfigurar las estancias, ampliando el número de habitaciones ya sea para invitados o porque en el futuro desee formar una familia.
The site is highly conditioned by its funnel-shaped geometry, narrowing as it moves away from the main façade. This difficulty meant carrying out an exhaustive study of multiple combinations of the communications core that forms the backbone of the house, until the most suitable option was found.One of the most important objectives in this housing project has been to enhance and give the greatest possible sense of spatiality, creating large spaces where the protagonist is light.

La parcela está muy condicionada debido a su geometría en forma de embudo, estrechándose a medida que te alejas de la fachada principal. Esta dificultad supuso realizar un estudio exhaustivo de múltiples combinaciones del núcleo de comunicaciones que vertebra la vivienda, hasta dar con la opción más adecuada. Uno de los objetivos más importante en este proyecto de vivienda ha sido potenciar y dar la mayor sensación de espacialidad posible, creando espacios amplios donde el protagonista sea la luz.
The materiality of this architecture project plays a fundamental role in the house. We are in a town that the city of Madrid itself has absorbed as one more neighborhood, but it maintains certain characteristics that continue to identify it as it was, low houses, narrow streets, ceramic materials and handcrafted finishes.It is for this reason that a ceramic latticework is proposed to mask the entire main façade, filtering the light and providing intimacy to the most private rooms. For the rest of the finishes in the house, a no-holds-barred bet is made, showing the raw materials and their installations. A strategy that seeks to combine design in detail, generate warm spaces and optimize resources to the maximum.

La materialidad de este proyecto de arquitectura juega un papel fundamental en la vivienda. Nos encontramos en un pueblo que la propia ciudad de Madrid ha absorbido como un barrio más, pero mantiene determinadas características que lo siguen identificando como lo que fue, casas bajas, calles estrechas, materiales cerámicos y acabados artesanales. Es por esa razón que se propone una celosía realizada en cerámica que enmascare toda la fachada principal, tamizando la luz y aportando intimidad a las estancias más privadas. Para el resto de acabados de la vivienda se realiza una apuesta sin tapujos, mostrando a la vista los materiales en bruto y sus instalaciones. Una estrategia que busca combinar el diseño al detalle, generar espacios cálidos y optimizar al máximo los recursos.
An entrance to the house set back from the building line is proposed to give greater amplitude, thus creating an exterior hall space covered by the terrace. Once the house is accessed, we find the garage space shared by a hall, thus composing a transition space before accessing the main double-height living room, which is linked to the garden with a swimming pool, thus creating a continuity between the outside and the inside, through a system of sliding windows. The communications core is located in the central space, in such a way that it distributes the house into two rooms. For its construction, a micro-perforated grille is selected in a soft RAL shade that suitably combines with the color of the ceramic and the rest of the materials. In this way, it is possible to create the sensation of a very light and vaporous staircase that allows the passage of light to the rest of the spaces.

Se propone una entrada a la casa retranqueada de la línea edificatoria para dar mayor amplitud, creando así un espacio de hall exterior cubierto por la terraza. Una vez se accede a la vivienda, nos encontramos con el espacio de garaje compartido por un recibidor, componiendo así un espacio de transición antes de acceder al salón principal de doble altura, que se encuentra vinculado al jardín con piscina, de esta forma se crea una continuidad entre el exterior el interior, mediante un sistema de ventanas correderas. El núcleo de comunicaciones se sitúa en el espacio central, de forma que distribuya la vivienda en dos ambientes. Para su construcción se selecciona una rejilla micro perforada en una tonalidad RAL suave que combine adecuadamente con el color de la cerámica y del resto de materiales. De esta forma, se consigue crear la sensación de una escalera muy liguera y vaporosa que permite el paso de luz al resto de espacios.
On the upper level of the first floor, there is a kitchen, a full bathroom and a flexible room, both as a bedroom, as a living room or even a work space or office. In this way, there is the option of fitting the entire basic program for housing use on the same floor without the need to access upper floors and covering all needs on the same level. On the top floor, there is a large bathroom and a bedroom space with a terrace facing the garden of the house.

En el nivel superior de planta primera, se dispone la cocina un baño completo y una estancia flexible tanto de habitación, como salón o incluso espacio de trabajo u oficina. De esta forma, se da la opción de encajar en la misma planta todo el programa básico para el uso de vivienda sin necesidad de acceder a plantas superiores y cubriendo todas las necesidades en el mismo nivel. En la última planta, se establece un amplio baño y un espacio de habitación con terraza hacia el jardín de la casa.
