'The Ningyo'

In the movie, these are drawings made by the main character, professor Marlow, for a slide presentation he is holding at the university, trying to prove these creatures exist. This is the beginning of an extraordinary adventure.
The slide show is projected on a Magic Lantern, thereof the round shape.

First versions were in squares. Although the proper shape for the Magic Lanters is square
it looked more interesting round on the stage screen.
