Information Visualization-Delhi Assembly Elections 2013

The assignment was a part of my course on Information Visualization.

I chose to visualize the change in scenario from the last assembly elections in 2008 to recent assembly elections in 2013  in Delhi.

Process
The icons used here have been taken from noun project and then modified.
Research
Since I am a delhi native, i kept my self updated with the election news in delhi. Also I read newspapers, watched news shows and comapred the scenario of each constituency in 2008 and 2013 to have a better understanding of the party rule in that constituency.
Explorations
First Exploration
The problem with the visualization was it didn't show clearly the party shift in each constituency . Also the story of Congress loosing and AAP winning is not very apparent. Aesthetic appeal was lacking as well.
Second Exploration
The problem with the visualization was that the idea of AAP winning and Congress loosing was not emphasized. Also the constituencies are seen in isolation with respect to their location in delhi. The visual language used to represent constituency is not in sync with the organic shapes in the delhi map.
Third Exploration
In this exploration , the idea of change in party shift from 2008 to 2013 represented by the Delhi Map has been subdued. Story narration was missing. It simply represents what constituency was ruled by which party. Here also the constituencies are seen in isolation.
