Strauss. Elektra. Costumes and scenography.

This is the logo of the opera.
"Elektra" by the great Richard Strauss is one of my favorite operas. Epic music that keeps the tension on the edge of the possible, throughout the performance.
Here is some of my set design and costume designs for "Electra"
In my interpretation, the action takes place in a semi-criminal family. The head of the family once killed his daughter, and after he returned from the war of criminal gangs, his wife killed him in the bath he was taking.
At the back of the stage is the same bath, and above, in the window  the "black widow" - Clytemnestra.
Electra is the daughter of Clytemnestra and Agamemnon, who she killed. Elektra dreams of revenge on her mother for her father's death.
Chrysothemis is the younger sister of Electra. She is just a girl who wants to live, get married, have children... She tries her best to dissuade her sister from plans of revenge for their father.
Clytemnestra, in my opinion, is not at all the embodiment of evil, as she is usually made. She lost her beloved daughter, grief made her a murderer, and now she is afraid of her own children. So I came up with the idea that Clytemnestra from suffering became an alcoholic. She becomes addicted... This is a completely original interpretation of an image that has never existed before. Thus, I declare to the "Úrbi et órbi" my copyright on it ))
Orestes is Elektra's older brother who secretly returns from exile because he also wants to avenge his father. Elektra is waiting for him and hopes for the success of their revenge.
The old teacher Orestes shared with him the exile and brought up his character.
Aegisthus is the younger brother of the murdered Agamemnon. He became the new husband of Clytemnestra, but he is a pale shadow of his brother. The “mantle” of his brother is too big for him, but he stubbornly wears it.
In the "bloody house" - "bloody servants". All staff are in red.
The revenge of Orestes and Elektra is successful and blood is shed. But why did Elektra know where the ax that killed her father was? Was Clytemnestra the murderer? Whose portrait always hangs on stage and ends up falling off the wall?
The history of which is more than three thousand years in my conditional interpretation and in the undoubtedly beautiful music of Richard Strauss.
