Boo! | A happy response to a challenge
Boo is an illustration I made back in 2008 in response to feedback on my illustration work at the time: 'Everything is so dull and dreary', and I saw that my work really was so. Dark illustrations with little to no color in them dominated most of my work back then, and I suppose it seemed I wasn't capable of doing something purely 'happy'. It was a challenge, and I took it on, producing its original version:
I still look back on it as one of my best pieces, largely because of its being borne of a challenge. Two years later I revamped the image by extending it to the left, keeping a pleasant landscape format with attention to the rule of thirds. A crescent moon, a couple more constellations, and a gratuitous amount of fluffy clouds were also thusly added. I'm still pleased to look back at it every now and again.
