Different Types of Gases and Its Applications

Our daily lives are filled with applications and processes requiring use of different types of gases. Below, you will see how commonly used gases are used in daily life, and how we benefit. When talking about common gases, typically, we are talking about oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, argon and a few others. The following chart can help give a more detailed understanding about how we use inert gases in everyday life.

Most inert gases are found at low concentrations in ambient air. Some gases which are generally not considered to be Inert gases, but which in all circumstances behave as inert gases, are probably used in place of inert gases during welding. Inert gases have special characteristics and are frequently used in industrial processes, for example, in laser devices, for light and welding, for immersion suits, etc. Nitrogen is also an inert gas, which can work in bulbs, but argon gas is used more often.

Argon is used in light bulbs because Argon is inert to the hot metal in the bulb filament, filament will burn much more quickly in air, or even in pure nitrogen. Argon Gas Cylinder is also used in the process of reprocessing metals, in some neon lights (argon produces blue light), in some food packaging in some luxurious car’s tires instead of air, and in lasers used in eye surgery.

The most commercially available methods for the extraction of the noble gases are found in air, with the exceptions of Helium and Radon, which are extracted from air using liquefaction and fractional distillation methods.

r is the savings of energy, as well as reducing the quantity of nitrogen and other gases passed through the furnace or through the chemical process. Reducing the number of inert gases that otherwise need to be compressed or heated may decrease energy use by decreasing gas compression requirements or by reducing the amount of fuel required to produce a given quantity of a product.
