Coffee Ground+Salt Paintings

On Watercolor Paper
This is a project I started years ago (2000?) when creating a piece for a group show called "Recycled." I did my version of The Mona Lisa on canvas scraps glued to cardboard. I'll post a shot of her later.
I was asked to contribute artwork for a charity auction last year and decided to re-visit this technique. This particular charity raises money to build water wells in Sub-Saharan Africa, so I thought using materials that rely on water would be an appropriate solution. My first attempt in 2000 only used coffee grounds. This time around I decided to try also using salt to allow more depth/texture to the final piece.
