I SEE ME :beautiful autism
social awareness campaign, Autism Society of Indiana, 2011
I SEE ME :beautiful austism, is a campaign developed in collaboration with Dana Reney, the Director of the Indiana Autism Society out of my desire as a mother of a child with autism to not only educate, but change the conversations about autism in society. By highlighting those living with autism through beautifully shot photography and sharing what they offer the world by means of creativity and skill sets versus their autism we seek to redefine how they view themselves and are defined by the world around them.

Promotional matierials were created to educate and invite autistics and parents of autistics to share their stories through the blog, www.beautifulautism.org (online summer 2011). A small scale traveling exhibit featuring two panels, 4’x 6’ with multiple layers each, showcased at events sponsored by the Autism Society will be on view throughout the coming year 2011. A series of five posters were designed for sponsors to promote the campaign and educate the public. Buttons and stickers are available for public purchase through the blog and at sponsored events.

Future plans are to create a coffee table book showcasing the photography, works and stories collected as well as a larger stand alone exhibit with sponsors in the coming year. Proceeds from sales will be designated to a college fund established for autistic children.
