Leonardo Poma's profile

War Aesthetics - Short paper about Design and War

"In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and theRenaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock"
Orson Welles (The Third Man, 1949)

This is a cover for a research work of a university course.

The theme was Design and War, the paper talks about military research and his transposition to the civil world. The cover tries to show the costs of this research in human lives. It's provocatively strong, and maybe a little pacifist, but i think the illustration is cool.

All made in Adobe Illustrator, started from hand sketch.
