Tourism Industry VR Attraction Piece

Tourism VR Industry Attraction Piece:
Lead designer on the project leading a team of developers, artists and testers to create an effective, engaging and efficient VR module that can be used to attract new employees to the Tourism industry in New Zealand.
The Problem:
The Tourism industry was unquestionably one of the hardest-hit industries during the pandemic. Since the introduction of pandemic-related restrictions, the industry that was once reliant on migrant workers needed a stronger attraction strategy to introduce local talent to tourism and hospitality opportunities. Partnering with a local Tourism company to create an engaging VR module to help young people and students become familiar with the plethora of exciting roles across the tourism and hospitality sectors, and measure their own suitability.
The Solution:
The module is built around the world of espionage, where students begin at a central ‘hub’ location. As a recruit, the learner will be gathering intel to infiltrate the tourism industry, where they navigate to seven different environments that represent the tourism industry sectors, meet people working in tourism to capture overview information, uncover the job requirements, and find the role in tourism and hospitality that suits their strengths and personality the most.

complete flexibility for timing and location of delivery, immersive 3D-rendered environments and learner-led discovery of available work opportunities in tourism.

Learning Outcomes:

Know the basic tasks, skills, knowledge, and attributes required of specific tourism roles.
Understand the requirements for succeeding in specific tourism roles.
