A rotunda é uma das edificação que faz parte do conjunto Ferroviário de Ribeirão Vermelho, a arquitetura ferroviária industrial do final do século XIX produzida em Minas Gerais, a qual utilizou uma linguagem arquitetônica eclética. A edificação é uma poligonal em forma circular com 75 metros de diâmetro, constituindo internamente um prisma de trinta faces. Sua estrutura metálica foi importada da Escócia, as telhas são francesas e cobrem as antigas baias de reparo, acompanhando o formato circular; possui vedações autoportantes em tijolos maciços cerâmicos, trinta colunas de ferro fundido com acabamento trabalhado – base e capitel com folhagens – apoiadas em cantaria, nove portões de acesso encimados por frontões, promovendo eixo de simetria na fachada, e duas janelas em cada plano enquadradas por relevo e massa, de vergas curvas. A platibanda, também em tijolos maciços e decorada em cimalha, esconde as calhas embutidas na alvenaria que captam água pluvial. O girador, ao centro e ao ar livre, servia para irradiar as linhas para os boxes individuais.
The roundabout is one of the buildings that are part of the set, expressing the industrial railway architecture of the late 19th century produced in Minas Gerais, which used an eclectic architectural language. The building is a polygonal circular shape with 75 meters in diameter, internally constituting a prism with thirty faces. Its metallic structure was imported from Scotland, the tiles are French and cover the old repair stalls, following the circular format; It has self-supporting fences in solid ceramic bricks, thirty cast iron columns with a worked finish – base and capital with foliage – supported by stonework, nine access gates surmounted by pediments, promoting an axis of symmetry in the facade, and two windows on each plane framed by relief and mass, with curved lintels. The platband, also made of solid bricks and decorated with a cymbal, hides the gutters built into the masonry that capture rainwater. The spinner, in the center and outdoors, served to radiate the lines to the individual boxes.
