SWING OUTS
This was a small personal project were I felt like having fun playing with rotoscoping and cell animation.
As a big fan of Lindy Hop, the swing dance form the 30's, I wanted to try and bring the movement, flow and energy of the dance into animation. For reference I used a segment of one of my favourite modern dancers,
Nils and Bianca, at Savoy Cup 2022 Champions Cup. You can watch the full dance here.
First I looped and stabilized the footage:
Then I drawn frame-by-frame each element individually.
After, I created some animated textures.
