THE OLD MASTHEAD
To create a new modern lettering, there were some elements to consider after looking at the old masthead:
• Increase weight & contrast
• Better alignment of the letter forms to occupy a larger space on the cover for greater impact
• Keep the reference of the Nile river by creating a wave-like system instead of the “fish tail” ends strokes
• Increase fluidity
THE NEW MASTHEAD
After analyzing the old lettering, the new lettering was designed with greater weight & contrast. It is composed of a fluid wave-like unit, forming a consistent system of letter forms that reference the Nile river as the name indicates.
