Aotearoa New Zealand had a successful approach at controlling COVID-19 by using a robust contact-tracing system.
One part of this system was to publish a list of locations of interest online, updated hourly, containing every location in the country where a positive case could have exposed others to COVID-19.
As the list grew from a handful of locations to hundreds of them, it became a very time consuming task to regularly check the website for new locations.
Using the public API from Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health, I created a simple iOS app allowing users to quickly access the list of locations of interest.
Users can filter, sort, and search through the list by name, city, and time; with critical locations highlighted.
Every location comes with the health advice provided by Manatū Hauora and dynamic links directing the user to the contact-tracing platform.
This app was an opportunity for me to practice my coding skills; challenging myself to dive into SwiftUI, JSON parsing and HTTP API features.
