MEC / Battery Equipment Building
Display Model
This model was created based on a actual building project for an unnamed costume. It was show cased at Industry trade show, IEEE in April of 2022 in New Orleans.
All the parts other than the working metal hinges were printed on a Formlabs 3L using Grey Resin. I used mostly Krylon spray paints to finish the parts. There was a small amount of model paints used on the interior equipment to highlight instrument panels shown in some of the other photos below.
I used magnets to hold the HVAC (heating and air conditioning) units in place. This allows for them to be easily removed for transport.
The over all length of the model was 24 inches without the HVAC units attached.
Here you can see some of the interior equipment and the extra detail.
Here you can see the over all model as it's being assembled.
All the walls, roof and floor/frame had to be printed in smaller sections and then glued together. The roof and walls were designed so that you could lift the "Building" off of the frame allowing for the equipment to be viewed.
Here are some parts that just came out of the curing machine.
The detail of the prints were amazing.
