In a village by the sea there lived a sweet, kind girl. Everyone knew her to be gentle and nurturing.
Once or twice every few generations, a child is picked to recieve a gift from the witch. The sweet, kind girl traversed the slopes of the cliffside for she knew that she had been chosen.

Nervously, she approached the aging witch. The witch peered at the sweet, kind girl with soft hazel eyes and asked her a single quesion:
What is it that you desire most?
The sweet, kind girl replied:

To be a mother
Very well then
Said the witch
Take this seed and plant it. Watch over it as it grows, love it and care for it.
When it grows tall and strong, you will have what you desire.
And so the sweet, kind girl planted her seed atop a little hill. She watered it, cared for it, and loved it.
Many seasons passed and the tree grew tall and strong. The sweet, kind girl grew with it. Though the tree had grown so well, the girl found that though she tried, she could not bear the child she was promised.
When all hope seemed to be lost, the kind witch died. The sweet, kind girl ran to her tree in despair. If the witch was no longer there, how could she keep her promise?
The wind died down, and in that stillness, the girl heard a sound from within the tree. She circled her tree and found, in a nook, a child with red hair and kind hazel eyes.

It takes one with a gentle nurturing heart to raise a witch.
