Welcome to the Portal: an interactive pedestrian walkway that takes the commuter out of their daily routine and into a less known part of the Universe. This hidden quadrant is yet to be explored and is full of strange flora and fauna waiting to be discovered.
The Portal transforms a busy pedestrian walkway from a mundane commute to a magical hidden passage that takes you through and out, snapping you out of your daily routine.
By the use of bright color palette the artwork clashes with the real world becoming an unexpected eye candy that pulls pedestrians in and through. RGB LED artistic lighting is to be installed throughout the passage. It’s possible to program the lighting to change colors through the day thus morphing the colors of the mural itself, presenting different looks for people passing at different times, never the same and always changing.
The painting process begins with cleaning and priming of the surface, then painting using exterior grade latex, and finally sealing with multiple coats of anti-graffiti sealant that will protect the artwork from vandalism as well as the weather. RGB LED lighting is to be installed at the end, painting any exposed wiring to match the artwork and masking the lighting source.
