breaking down the beauty into the surreal | PHOTOGRAPHY

This was a group work made in a photography class. The theme chosen the idea of breaking down the beauty into the surreal. One big inspiration is Joel-Peter Witkin who worked on the same theme.

Our sequence of photographs consisted of a stone head covered with a sheet, surrounded by flowers and candles, which gradually begins to be uncovered by two hands leaving only the head uncovered in the middle of the objects previously mentioned.

At first the head is covered and surrounded by objects considered beautiful and elegant, but throughout the sequence with the appearance of the hands and the revelation of the head under the sheet it becomes a more macabre image, taking into account the standard of beauty manufactured by society.
