Skype is a very versatile tool for online learning and teaching. (I've removed user names to protect the innocent - and the not so innocent - you know who you are Tom).
Teaching English in Second Life.
One of the new aspects of online learning (German) and teaching (English) that I'm exploring, is Second Life. Ever since they enabled voice within SL I've been exploring its potential, and I have to say, that potential is huge.
Voice Thread is an excellent way of engaging with students who aren't willing or able to use Skype or Second Life. Each student can leave their own comments in text or using a sound file, and even by doodling.
