UTAFITI PRIMARY SCHOOL - THANK YOU KDF

UTAFITI PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Aim: To show the CIMIC (Civil-Military Co-operation) impact of the KDF to Utafiti Primary School
Utafiti Primary School had a sub-standard ablution block which affected learning.
The Problem - The lack proper toilet facilities for the pupils affected their studies. The pupils had to walk almost 300m to a public toilet in the tea farm factory to relieve themselves. The back and forth would take around 10 minutes, talking away valuable time that would be spent in class learning.
The Intervention - The head teacher reached out to well wishers who stepped in to construct a standard ablution block with clean running water. This was during the COVID-19 pandemic, the clean water kept the deadly virus away.
The Impact - The standard ablution block now serves about 250 pupils, allowing them to concentrate on their studies.

                                                 Ensuring B-roll footage is captured
Proper use and accountability of production equipment
My responsibility during post-production as the editor was
Edit the narrative as per The Aim of the project

Editing timeline of Utafiti primary school on Adobe Premier Pro.
I find that organizing your editing elements in their respective files, streamlines the editing process. More time editing, less time finding files
Between updates, corrections, feedback duration and approval from the client, the editing took 3 weeks.
Challenge and Solution
Challenge: The weather in Kericho was unpredictable with unexpected rain. We (The producer and I) checked on the weather forecast prior to production however the weather changed.
Solution:   1. We used umbrellas to shield the equipment from the light showers.
                 2. We did a detailed brief in the Interviews prior to filming. This reduced nervousness on pupils and increased                                     confidence during interviews. The results was, we took little time interviewing them.
Here are few photos of Utafiti Primary School
The constructed ablution block for Utafiti Primary School. The ablution block was build as permanent structure able to serve 300 pupils complete with clean running water from the taps

It had just rained and the light was just right for this particular photograph. The photographer (nick_the_nikonite) captured the perfect light on tea farms. Whilst editing this photo, my aim was to emphasize the clean sun light after the rains.
Happy pupils running and playing about during break time

This is a Behind The Scene photo of Utafiti Primary School - Kericho

The young girl who was also the head-girl was very articulate and clear in her delivery, but on the last take she felt a little overwhelmed. You can see the director calming her down, ensuring her she is doing just fine.
Parade time(17:00pm EAT) just before the pupils depart for home. The Head Teacher was addressing the school. My colleague (the photographer - nick_the_nikonite) took this photo. I stepped in to edit using Lightroom Classic  CC.

My aim was show the clean light just after the rains as seen in the field behind the student. This was achieved by enhancing the sun's yellow glow. Color harmony on the analogous hues was also a key consideration, done by balancing saturation. Finally adding a small amount of vignette tied the whole image together.
Sunsets in Kericho are a visual symphony of Hues, Saturation, and beauty. I  took this photo and edited using Lightroom Classic  CC.
The complementary hues of Blues and Orange are the stars in this photo.
