Summer Mobility Murals for FreeNow

Surface Design
The Summer of Mobility!
I recently worked with FreeNow to create 2 new murals in Hamburg, Germany. Located in the Schanzeviertel and Reeperbahn neighborhoods, the murals add a pop of color to the city for FreeNow's Summer 2022 campaign.

At nearly 90m long, the mural at the Reeperbahn showcases a complex summer scene, full of FreeNow's fleet of vehicles (mopeds, scooters, shared cars, and taxis are available in Hamburg) and city landmarks. I was inspired by the concept of mobility and movement, and depicted circle shapes such as wheels, rounded flowers, curved roads and paths and circular sunglasses help to reinforce the concept of forward motion. I also included some classic Hamburg icons - the Elbphilharmonie, the sea and port, freighter ships, the Speicherstadt, fischbrötchen sandwiches, and more. Lastly, I depicted some of my signature characters enjoying their time around the city in the summer - relaxing in the park, riding a scooter to meet friends, enjoying local food, and spending time with family and friends.

The mural in Schanzenviertel is also more than 5m tall and sits atop a local store. It depicts similar scene, with bright colors and playful characters using FreeNow's transportation to get around during the summer - and of course some Hamburg landmarks!
