Brand Identity – The Kingdom Co

The Kingdom Co | Brand Identity Project
The Kingdom Co is a church plant based in Monroe, WA. They are a community gathering around the presence of God, Scripture, and a vision to see heaven come to earth.

The client, the pastor, approached me about creating a logo and simple brand identity that he could take and run with. After hearing the vision and mission of the church, I was able to design a logo and general aesthetic that captured the vision while also maintaining ease of use.
The Process
During the kickoff meeting, the client had a very specific vision for the logo. He did not want anything overly ornate or distracting. He wanted the type inside a box. This narrowed down what would have been rounds and rounds of revisions. With the concept in hand, I decided to focus on the details. With such simple design, the slightest imbalances stand out all the more. I focused my time on font selection, weight, kerning, alignment, and padding. I paid special attention to the type anatomy and was watchful for odd-looking characters in the typeface.
The Deliverables

We eventually narrowed down the options to a horizontal and vertical logo that could be used for various applications.
In addition to the logos, I provided a sample set of imagery and resources for the client to use to create and use the brand. He wanted a northwest look and feel, so the imagery featured scenes from nature and evergreens.
This is a simple, yet very effective and usable brand identity. The client agreed to reach out if he needed to expand or refresh the brand as the church grows. He was very satisfied with the designs.
