This video features timelapse sequences from my trip to the polar circle of norway, mostly the Tromsø area (Kvaløya, Ringvassøya, Lyngsalpan and some other areas of the Troms county). For me, as a greenhorn, Tromsø turned out to be a perfect base for the journey. It‘s a nice city with every comforts like hotels, bed and breakfasts, an airport, car rentals, supermarkets, restaurants etc. You can easily access the coastal and mountain areas from there and make it back to your warm hotel bed even if you stay out late. It‘s even possible to go to the Lofoten islands from there, but it‘s still a 6 hour drive.
My video was featured on a couple of Aurora Borealis related sites but two postings in particular really made me proud: NASA Solar Dynamic Observatory and the official tourist office of the city of Tromsø shared GATES TO THE ARCTIC on their Facebook sites. That was so cool and a great appreciation for my work.
