SOUNDS - is a speaker that lets record and store memories in physical cards.
The speaker provides autonomy for kids so they can decide what experiences are important and which memories they want to keep or get rid off. SOUNDS has no screens and instead uses sound which instigates visual memories in kids’ heads and boosts their imagination.
It’s like a camera which allows to capture sounds instead of images.
Using SOUNDS is as easy as it looks. Start by putting a fresh NFC card in front pocket. Press a button with a circle and start recording. When done, press the same button again. An LED strip will blink a few times indicating when the NFC card can be safely removed. To add a touch of personality to the cards use markers or paint.
The Process
The design of SOUNDS was based on geometric forms. Apple's design language was the primary inspiration source and had a great impact on the final product.

This stage was performed using a 3D printed model. It gave me a sense and understanding of how the user would interact with the device.
