This project features some of the posters and other artworks I did for an Advanced Typography class, in which we mainly worked with vernacular typography. I chose Urdu as my preferred language. The course had many restraints such as usage of same typeface through all the assignments, no color, only usage of typefaces, no illustrations of any kind, modifications of fonts were permitted, and also only "black on white"; black background was banned. For the last assignment we were allowed to use color and were required to print the typography on objects apart from posters and postcards.

Third Assignment: Use color on real objects, and make use of older artwork or new artwork. This artwork reads "Bismillah" in Urdu. This word is generally spoken when one starts something new.

This was one of my favorite works, so I decided to strip off the poem and only stick to the title on the tshirt print.
I also did a hand-lettered poster for the course. This reads "Ishq" in Urdu, which in Urdu means Love. This artwork was inspired by didone forms and swashes.
