Book cover Design: Philippine Folktale

Creating a cover that would appeal Young Adults (Generation Z) to create relevance and interest in Filipino Culture. Folktales are important in a culture because they help preserve the identity of a society as well as keep the culture and history alive today.
A Folktale Story famous from the Igorot people in the mountainous area of the northern Philippines. The story is about two men unhappy with their appearance since neither have been tattooed. They decided to tattoo each other, one was carefully marked all over his body while the other was carelessly rubbed the black soot all over  and covered him entirely black. They began to fight then suddenly the beautifully tattooed one turned into a lizard and hid in the tall grass while the one covered in soot became a crow and flew away.

The Tattooed men can also be considered the origin story of the lizard and the crow. The illustration are the some tattoos design and a crow and lizard in it. The colors are inspired by the traditional clothes worn by the Igorot people
For the Igorot community they have rich tradition of having beautiful intricate tattoos that both men and women have. It is considered to be a badge of honor, a serious religious experience while enduring hours of the pain that signifies your rank and power in the community as well as a sign of beauty and a rite of passage for their people.
