Brief: Produce an interactive narrative for an artifact from the Victoria & Albert Museum display collections. Your final outcome will be displayed on a tablet device in front of the object.

Chosen Object: The Bullet Streamliner Radio. Produced in the 1940s, when America was entering WWII.

The American Forces Network is a worldwide radio broadcast network that serves American servicemen and women stationed at bases overseas. Our interface allows users to explore how the radio acts a link back to home for the soldiers who were facing a very different reality wherever they were deployed to.

The first version of Troops* exists on the World-Wide-Web. Its newer versions were created on the desktop using Max but were designed to be deployed onto the iPad with the help of the application Mira. Users can scroll through the digital radio dial to listen into the various AFN radio shows that were broadcasted in the cities that these soldiers were situated at.

This project was done in collaboration with Masato Seki.
