Climbing up on the rooftops to try get a better understanding of the layout and how it appears when seen from the air.
First conceptual sketch to understand the colour palettes and possible angle of the overall map.
Using AutoCad floorplans and Google Earth references I then created the entire map using Sketchup modelling.
This would allow me to rotate the map to any angle required.
Using the Sketchup map as a base I then drew over the basic geometry.
