Prohibited and Dangerous

The idea for this project originates back to one of our vacations on the island of Hiddensee located in the Baltic Sea a couple miles from Germany's north shore. At many locations, particularly in the "Dünenheide", a long stretch of heath-land, one could spot warning signs cautioning people about adders (Kreuzotter).

While these are common on the island for sure, the number of signs posted rather created the impression that they are somehow about discouraging cross-country hikers from trampling down the Erica. This triggered the idea to start a collection of warning and prohibition signs on the island.

Exactly this is what we did while on Hiddensee island in February/March 2019.
