DANC / SHAPING BAY SESSION 001

As part of an on-going JW.S creative partnership, I've been creating content for my good friend Dan Cobley (DANC Surfboards Inc.) for years. This particular series of images date back to 2016 (curiously captured in JPG, and using an entry-level Nikon with a kit lens) trying to show the full process of shaping surfboards. The image fidelity leaves a bit to be desired, but the images have benefited from 6 years of refining my editing process to give them as much life as possible.

In an effort to keep the shots looking natural, these were captured without stopping the shaping process or providing direction. There's lots of dust flying around and continual movement, so its a bit tricky to get it all right, but I think it's worth it to avoid staged-looking-shots often captured in a shaping bay.

This is the first of many series that will be posted in relation to DANC. I'm also working through the branding, website, and social content while continually shooting more photos and videos of new product and team riders.

Follow @dancsurf for more on DANC Surfboards, and you can visit dancsurf.com (a temporary landing page for now, but will be launching soon-ish.) I also post a lot of work on my own personal site linked below.
