Chasing Waterfalls Hiking club

Born out of the frustrations of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, 'Chasing Waterfalls' is an adventurous and health-focused hiking group. The name was playfully coined after a humorous incident when group members preferred trails featuring water pools or waterfalls. On a particular outing, we embarked on a trail that promised a waterfall, only to find it dry due to our June visit. In that moment of irony, the name 'Chasing Waterfalls' came to life.
Over time, the TLC song has a different meaning for us. To us, 'Chasing Waterfalls' means exploring the spaces in and around South Africa, looking for the best hiking trails, and meeting new friends. In a nutshell, it is about keeping on moving, discovering the hidden gems of our countries, and being one with nature. We end every hike with a swim and a braai (an outdoor barbecue), a beautiful way to show ubuntu, as group members bring different types of food to share.
