It is of great pride to announce that yesterday 26 May 2022, our group's BALANCY app concept was declared as the grand winner for Codemotion's Hackathon Challenge Hack4Change | Work-life balance in cooperation with Angelini Industries and Fameccanica.
The challenge was to create an innovative model of smart working environment that would help create balance between work and private life of employees. My group's response was BALANCY, a platform to effectively manage the problems in a hybrid setup while putting the people at the center of the design process.
It is an honor to be part of my very brilliant and diverse team. The beauty of our diversity and our unity has proven to be very effective in responding to this challenge. Our app concept was developed by Italian-Romanian developer, Marius Ionut Tilita, Turin industrial engineer Maria Chiara Bodda, Brianzan psychologist Matilde Ellen Simonetti, Spanish HR specialist Cristina de Luque and me, a Filipino visual designer.
In this design, I came up with a relaxing yet engaging color scheme which was also consulted with my team. The user interface design features flat-design vector style with simple happy avatars. Notice the simple geometries involved. I thought of the idea that the design should not be complex so as to enable a comfort in using the app. it also has that slight "kiddie" look and feel to help draw in the attention of the users and attract them to use the app - suggesting that this is also an easy platform for those seeking an effective work-life balance app.
I also designed the logo. The handwriting style suggests relaxation and the feeling of being natural. Below it is a stretched half circle that resembles a wide smile and a simple modern seesaw which represents balance.
I am very happy and proud of this new achievement.
