VIBRATION MASSAGE BALL
Sidekick Tool approached us to create a complete new design language and adding smart functions to their existing products Flux. We worked on a totally new skin and a brand-new user interface to reflect Sidekick Tool brand identity to the product.
Wrapped in our custom APEX trigger point layer design, the Sidekick Flux locates and relaxes trigger points faster, more deeply, and with less discomfort.
The design proposes an hexagon-shaped pattern to reflect the brand identity. These hexagons elevate to sharp points to exert targeted power for a deeper massage on the sore muscles.

The new user interface completes the product with a more dynamic image. Existing 9V DC adapter is replaced by USB Type C connection for the convenience of the user. Four hexagon-head screws are left visible to give a more powerful impression
When we were given the task for redesigning the skin of the vibration ball, we started the process by conducting in-depth interviews with professional athletes. The core findings of the research led us to four essential purposes of the massage ball
- Relax muscle and ligaments
- Decrease stiffness and restore range of motion
- Stimulate blood flow and improve circulation to targeted areas
- Reduce or even prevent the effects of Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness

All the athletes interviewed emphasised the importance of relaxing the trigger points faster, more deeply, and with less discomfort.
