Convergent-Divergent Nozzle CFD at Mach No. 1


A nozzle is a mechanical device that increases outflow velocity and controls fluid flow direction by utilising pressure energy and fluid enthalpy. To obtain the shock pattern of the nozzle duct, the flow inside the nozzle must be supersonic with a Mach number greater than one.
Convergent - Divergent nozzles are used to increase the flow of gas to supersonic speeds (as in the case of rockets). Their cross-sectional area first decreases and then increases.
                                                                                               Inlet Boundary Condition

At inlet velocity is 400 m/s ,because aim was to do CFD at Mach Number approximately 1.

Mesh can be further refined by using different refining techniques. In our case mesh is not structured properly which can be done by different tools in Ansys Mechanical.
