Saikal: Until they're gone - is a kyrgyz animated series based on book "The Day Lasts More Than a Hundrend Years" by Chingiz Aitmatov (1980). Especially "the Mankurt idea" of a man who lost his connection with past and spiritual values, who absolutely obeys every order without a moral question.

Character Design
In our cyber future "the Mankurt idea" of a man who lost his connection with past we tried to cover people with metall and replace the head of a government with a digital projection of a man in suit. Mankurts are a people who got controlled by that system and that's why they are fully covered by metall.

For us it was a challenge to work with lights and shadows in animation so it could show the dark tone of the story full of metall and digital technology.
