This piece is based on the concept of dealing with brain cancer and the ever-present danger of it returning in remission. 

This piece went through a couple of years of revisions, different settings, characters, etc, trying to figure out the right spot between not over complicated the concept but including enough narrative. This sketch was where I first thought I was finding the balance. I still like the dirtiness and loose pencil lines of this sketch, always trying to meet the looseness of my sketches in the middle with the look of "finish" in the final pieces.
