[Coup de Grace]
A Merciful End to All Red Blend Competitors!

Freelance Wines
Independence, the most basic definition of freelance, is also what drove its beginnings.  This is a collaboration of two Lodi natives already entrenched in the wine business, now looking to leave their mark by way of their own wines.  Founded in 2012 by Adam Mettler and Mike Stroh, Freelance Wines is a first generation wine company with the goal of producing innovative, world class wines that speak of who the founders are - free thinkers, looking to impact the world of wine on their own.

Winemaker Adam Mettler grew up in Lodi, the fifth generation of his family to make wine in the region. In 2012, Mettler joined forces with Mike Stroh, another Lodi son, and the two founded Freelance Wines, with the goal of shaking up the wine industry with expressive, original wines. Coup de Grâce is the company’s first introduction.

Coup de Grâce
Sourced from several renowned growing regions in Northern California, Coup de Grâce Red Wine is a blend of  Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel, Petite Sirah from Lodi and Russian River Valley, Lodi Petit Verdot and  Cabernet Franc from Napa County’s Atlas Peak sub-appellation. The wine is 100% barrel-aged in 65% new oak with a nearly 50-50 split of French and American barrels.

“Coup de Grâce is an expressive wine done in a truly original style—a wine that stands alone having vanquished the competition…mercifully.
