Nutshed | Peanut Butter

Packaging
It’s time to spread the word about the brand we’re going nuts!

Last year, Evie and Eliza, two food enthusiasts and Nutshed founders, contacted us to give their Irish brand’s packaging a visual refresh. However, during our design process we realized we could give the logotype an update as well.
Considering that, we presented our clients two different approaches: one that was more conservative with the logo they already had and another one that was a little bit more audacious but maintained the brand’s essence.

That is how we came up with a wordmark so tempting and provocative that Evie and Eliza couldn’t resist to choose! It is definitely inspired by the flow and the smoothness of a spread. Despite that, we wanted to preserve the previous wordmark layout (vertical and horizontal) and the element that worked as a frame. We also enhanced Nutshed’s vibrant colors because it was a great opportunity for their products to be in the spotlight since most of their competitors have a brownish or a greener color palette that reinforces healthy attributes. And even though Nutshed peanut butters are healthy, Evie and Eliza consider that healthy food should look happy, fun and pleasant too.

That sounds pretty nice but…we do agree that a logotype isn’t the whole picture, right?

And that is exactly why we put our eyes on the label design (also because it was the reason our clients came by, obviously!). First of all, we grew the word “peanut butter” so that people could easily figure out which kind of butter it was. Then we composed a new pattern with maxi abstract shapes and added some foil details to support the product’s price and its value-added. Lastly we looked for a complementary typography that could match altogether with the wordmark and the brand’s identity.

Some other things we did after the brand identity and the packaging: colorful gifs for social media, the guidelines for instagram posts, the layout of the web page, the shipping boxes to deliver peanut butter jars and a dash of spice for their merch.

We want to give our special thanks to Evie and Eliza who were very passionate, supportive and accurate during the course of this project. They knew when to let us take some risks and that improved our work’s result.
