WEEK 8

How many typefaces were used?
1-2
What kind of typefaces are used and how do they relate to each other?
The design is done in sans serif fonts with the logo text being one probably designed logo type a subtype in a similar sans serif font and then information text is delivered in a third sans serif font
How did the designer use space and alignment to organise the text?
The design breaks the text up into spaces with the branding text being centered on the label and the information text is spaced above and below it creating room for the different texts and guiding the viewer's eye through the information
What were the treatments used to differentiate text and organise information — size, scale, treatment (colour, effects)?
The design uses scale, colour, and some effects such as stroke and dropshadow with the logo being scaled the largest followed by the top branding text which utilises colour to emphasise the new and the bottom text scales the text between individual words which I think looks kinda weird.
What are the other elements on the label (logos, images, graphics, rules, background colours)
The design uses a bright red stripe across the top to act as a background for the emphasised marketing text and the rest of the design is a more subdued and dark purple design that's meant to just be a subtle backdrop to the rest of the text and not draw attention to itself.
What is your opinion about the quality of the label? Does it work? Is it aesthetically pleasing? Is it effective? Why do you think that is?
I think it works well enough I don't like the weird bit of scaling going on in the "powers through soap scum" bit but overall I think it's fine, the design varies the text scale and spacing enough that it's visually interesting enough.
How does the use of type and its organisation on the label influence the aesthetic quality and efficiency of this label?
Maybe having some marketing text at the top and the bottom of the design when it's designed so the viewer reads the logo in the middle first leads the reader to have to go then up to the top of the product and then the bottom which I guess is technically inefficient?
Yeah my design sensibilities are evidently pretty boring, sorry.
